Thermika: Our Story Begins with Energy-Efficient Windows

My name is Dave, and I started Thermika. The house pictured above is the one in which my family and I live. While most of the original windows were replaced by a previous owner decades ago, we could literally feel the cold radiate inward from the old replacement windows during the frigid winters here in Vermont. Besides that, some of the windows were drafty, too, because the weatherstripping and seals were no longer doing their job.

My wife and I explored replacement windows, but “investing” in cheap, vinyl windows didn’t seem wise, and they wouldn’t have looked right in our old home. We also looked at quality, wood replacement windows but shuddered at the enormous investment required. So, I researched and explored how to boost the energy efficiency and comfort level of existing windows. None of the options I found was appealing to me, so I rolled up my sleeves, got to work, and before long, Thermika was born! Our proprietary product is patent pending.

Curious about our name? It’s simply a rough contraction of the two types of insulation provided by Thermika… thermal and acoustic!
