First, our laser measuring tool is super easy to use and very accurate–it has just one button. If you can push that button, you can take perfect measurements! Second, our friendly measuring bot (interactive measuring page) will walk you through measuring each window, step by step. And finally, we’re happy to connect with you via video chat (such as FaceTime, Skype, etc.) to provide any help that you may need or to view peculiar window situations.
Broadly speaking, they are very similar products–both are well-made and well-engineered. Both companies utilize high-quality acrylic sheets, but they differ in the designs of their respective edgings and other components. Indow uses a wider, thicker edging with a compressive foam bulb, whereas Thermika’s proprietary edging is considerably smaller and has a solid silicone flange that deflects rather than compresses, so it is easier to install, less likely to pop out, and less bulky in appearance than Indow. In addition, because our edging is solid silicone rather than foam like Indow’s edging, it is translucent and will therefore adopt the paint or stain color of any window and blend in better than Indow’s bulbous foam edging. The final difference is price–Thermika is about 10% less than Indow’s comparable product.
Yes! Thermika panes come with a common sense lifetime warranty against manufacturing and materials defects or normal wear to the silicone components. We characterize it as a common sense warranty because it doesn’t apply to damage resulting from you, your kids, your pets, or your crazy grandma. To put it simply, if the problem is a result of shortcomings on our end, it’s covered. If the problem is a result of things that happen on your end, it’s not covered. See why we think it’s common sense?
Absolutely! Thermika panes come standard a patent-pending translucent silicone grommet in the lower corner. Simply push your finger through the grommet’s slits and pull the pane out. If the pane is being installed in a window that is fixed or is otherwise not needed for egress, you can choose to delete the grommet, in which case we’ll include a small, simple tool that slips behind the pane’s edging to help with removal.
If you have a space in which to store them flat on a solid, flat horizontal surface such as a large table or shelf, that would be great, but they can also be stored upright–we simply recommend that they be positioned as close to vertically as possible to minimize the potential for the acrylic to sag over time. Ideally you’d also cover them with something such as an old sheet or towels to keep them clean.
Of course! In keeping with our sustainability mission, we’ll do whatever we can to help you repair your Thermika pane so it performs as it should. If the acrylic sheet is damaged, you can buy a replacement from a local supplier, and we’re happy to give them the original cut file so their CNC machine can cut it accurately. If the edging is damaged accidentally or if you lose a grommet, we can sell you a replacement–just let us know.
